Josh Pryor

Ashtanga Yoga Newcastle

Josh Pryor is the author of two modern translations of ancient texts. He is the CEO of Yoga Australia, the country's peak professional body for yoga teachers, and runs Ashtanga Yoga Newcastle, the city's longest-running shala.

Scholar of Sanskrit traditions and steward of organisations, he translates ancient and contemporary systems, yoking corporeal disciplines and algorithmic architectures.

What I am teaching at Yoga Day - Sydney

From Pranayama to Modern Breathwork

Josh will guide you through the essential components of pranayama, its natural progressions across various traditions, and the prerequisites that make breath practice safe and effective.

You'll come away knowing what to look for in a modern breathwork workshop and how the extraordinary heights spoken of in the ancient texts can be reached in a way that is sensible, progressive, and pragmatic, just as the ṛṣis intended.
