Dru Yoga

Ruth Gent

Ruth Head Shot.png

Ruth has enjoyed practising a wide range of yoga styles over 36 years and training yoga teachers for 17 years.

With a background in science teaching, natural therapies, leadership and management, and yoga therapy, Ruth’s passion is integrating these diverse fields to facilitate others to understand, grow, align with their purpose in life and realise their full potential.

Originally starting her career as a Naval Officer,  Ruth’s career changed direction after being crushed by a falling gum tree in a storm. Ruth found Dru yoga was a key part of her healing journey on all levels.

Dru Yoga emphasises meeting the student/client where their body is at, as well as working with the subtle energy bodies (Koshas) particularly when the physical is compromised.  Ruth was astounded by the benefits of working on the more profound subtle levels that is the ancient sacred heritage of yoga.

Ruth is the Director of Studies for Dru Australia and loves working with a wonderful team of Dru teacher trainers across Australia, New Zealand, UK and Netherlands.  She trains Dru Yoga Teacher Trainers as well as managing post graduate programs in Dru Yoga Therapy Course, Subtle Energetics, Post Graduate Mastery Course, Dru Meditation Mastery Course, and the Dru Back Care & Wellbeing Course as well as a suite of short Dru Yogic Philosophy Courses.

BScGrad DipEd, CertIV TAE, Yoga Therapist. Level 3 Yoga Australia teacher.

What I am teaching at Yoga Day - Sydney

Explore Subtle Energetics of Yoga

I will take you on a magical adventure into the field of our subtle energy layers in a grounded and methodical way. The physical benefits of yoga are wonderfully popular. Now also experience how to become more aware of and then consciously move prana itself, the force that conducts the thread of consciousness through all layers of awareness.  Explore the paradox of “Stillness in Motion”.

Dru Yoga is often referred to as “The Yoga of the Heart”. Discover what makes Dru Yoga an inclusive and accessible form of yoga. Experience our profoundly healing Energy Block Release Sequences.

The word Dru comes from the Sanskrit word for the North (or Pole) Star, a fixed point in the sky by which traditionally seafarers navigated. This fixed point is resonant of the stillness that can be experienced in Dru Yoga or what we refer to as “Stillness in Motion”. Dru Yoga is all about anchoring ourselves in the profound stillness of our Being whilst acting from a place of inner calm & integrity.
